Evidence-based communication is vital in building patient trust

Around 80% of patients are satisfied with the information they receive about their health.

Providing patients with evidence-based information about their health condition is crucial in gaining their trust and building healthcare provider (HCP)-patient relationships.

According to GlobalData, 82% of patients surveyed were happy with the quality of information from their healthcare providers. 

Amongst those surveyed 74% believe that the information they get is “current and evidence-based.”

“Chronic disease management requires the acquisition of skills and knowledge on how to live with the disease, and the HCPs play an important role in providing this information. Physicians' knowledge-sharing allows patients to better understand their diseases and in turn to better manage their health,” said Urte Jakimaviciute, senior director of Market Research at GlobalData.

“The patient-physician relationship can play a pivotal role in enhancing patient care. Even though it may take time to establish patients trust in their HCP knowledge and experience, when this trust is established, open communication between a patient and their physician can lead to better treatment adherence, and treatment outcomes,” Jakimaviciute added.

The senior director also noted that the higher satisfaction rate amongst the younger generations is in line with their proactive interest in their health as they prepare more questions and access medical records more frequently.
